I might be biased because I live in Denver, Uptown specifically, but as the Denver reporter for YourHub.com, I think I have the best gig of the bunch. There's so much going on, so many diverse neighborhoods and so many interesting people in this fine city. When I'm not reporting, and on occasion doubling as photographer, I'm trying to take advantage of all those outdoorsy things Colorado has to offer. Although I was born in Manila, Philippines, I've lived in Colorado since I was 5, so I call myself a near-native. I've been in different parts of this state -- from the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado to the eastern plains. But Denver has been my favorite place to live and I enjoy hanging out downtown, seeing art on Santa Fe and walks around Washington Park. I attended Cottey College and then the University of Denver, where I earned my bachelor's in journalism and English.

I was born and raised in Aurora, and, after living in Denver for a few years during and after college, I bought my first home in Aurora, just a few miles from the house I grew up in. I graduated from the Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and an English minor. I'm happily married -- my wife, Melinda, and I tied the knot in December 2004. Our first child, Prahlad, was born in March 2007. My hobbies include playing the guitar, writing poetry, reading fiction, collecting and listening to music and watching movies.

I graduated from the Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2009 with a degree in journalism and a minor in sociology. I was born and raised in Thornton and have become more and more acquainted with Douglas County. I have worked on the staff of my school's newspaper since eighth grade in various roles, including editor-in-chief of my high school paper, and have interned for the Rocky Mountain News and MetroNorth Newspapers. I've covered almost every type of story, but am always looking for a new challenge. This is my first job in journalism out of college and I really enjoy it, especially the diversity of stories. Outside of work, I enjoy writing creatively, reading, watching movies and compelling TV, listening to music and meeting with friends and new people.

I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Spanish Business Translation. I've worked at various publications (both English and Spanish) and media-related businesses throughout the Denver-metro area and in New York City. I enjoy following international news and politics, reading, writing and of course, spending time with friends and family.

I grew up in Dallas and Los Angeles and went to college at UCLA and UC-Berkeley as an English major. After college and a trip to Europe, I lived in the Ozarks of northwest Arkansas, where I learned how to milk a cow, make bread on a wood cookstove and salvage old houses for building materials. When I returned to civilization, my husband and I started our family. I have worked for weekly newspapers, monthly magazines and a Colorado book publisher before coming to work at YourHub.com. I was born in Tacoma, Wash., at the height of the baby boom and traveled around the country and parts of Europe as an Army brat before finally settling in Colorado Springs. I worked nine years at the Colorado Springs Sun and came to Denver in 1986. I joined the Rocky Mountain News in 1989 and stayed at the paper until it closed in 2009, spending my final years there in the Commentary department as a copy editor, letters editor and occasional writer of editorials.

It is inarguable: I do so much pride myself on my not-always-conventional (pretty goofy) characteristics. For example, I may be one of the few left who prefer to write with a quill. Weird? Maybe. Creative? I think so. Born in Denver, I feel fortunate to have been raised in both the Mile High City and Los Angeles, CA. After finally planting my feet firmly in Edgewater, I went on to receive a B.A. in political science from the University of Colorado Denver in 2007. Soon after, I landed my first writing gig as a legislative journalist covering the 2008 Colorado General Assembly. I very much enjoy jogging (especially around Sloan's Lake), writing music with my band and can often be found at a downtown Starbucks with my face in either a novel or a how-to book--that's if it's not in a cinnamon dolce latte.

I live in central Denver with my wife and four young children who fortunately don't yet vote in a bloc. Once they realize they wield the power of the majority, it's all over. I hail from the Texas coast and graduated from Texas A&M University. My career has included stints as ski bum, bookstore manager and mortgage banker. When I used to have spare time, I played a lot of Ultimate Frisbee, and hope to do so again one day.

I've been a journalist a long time -- managing editor at my hometown Michigan paper, a broadcast journalist for local and network radio, syndicated business talk show host and a senior producer at a national print and broadcast wire service. I also do professional narration for educational science programs and photography. The YourHub.com "people" stories tell what a community is at its heart better than anything I know. I enjoy the outdoors in my off-work time and will pursue creative writing after my full-time news career.

I'm a sea-level gal hailing from a lifetime on the Great Lakes and who had a hankering for some serious elevation. In early '08, I packed up my cat and a U-Haul trailer, drove west and declared this great square state my new home. I live with a plant-crazed roommate in steal-of-a-deal apartment in very north Wash Park. I bleed green and white as a graduate from Michigan State University with B.A.s in journalism and German. I love photography, rec softball, traveling, Greek mythology, soccer, skiing and red wine. I hate Styrofoam, am allergic to deer hair and was once bitten by a squirrel. So that about sums it up: your basic Kristin-in-a-nutshell.
