2008 Pontiac G8

G8
The G8 confirms Pontiac's commitment to style and performance. A six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode is standard and features the fuel-saving Active Fuel Management system, which enhances fuel economy by alternating between 8- and 4-cylinder power. An optional 6-speed manual transmission will be available soon after launch. The base G8 model receives a 3.6L DOHC V-6 with variable valve timing, rated at 261 horsepower. It is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. A limited-slip rear differential is standard with GT models.

The G8 is the first North American application of GM's new global rear-wheel-drive architecture developed by Holden, GM's Australian subsidiary.

Torrent GXP
The Pontiac Torrent is closely related to the Chevrolet Equinox, and for 2008 the Torrent gets a high-performance GXP package. The Torrent's segment competition is the Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty and Toyota RAV4. Engines include a 185-horsepower, 3.4-liter V-6, and GXPs receive a 3.6-liter V-6 with 264 hp. Both regular and GXP models can be equipped with front- or all-wheel drive.
