LR2
Since its introduction the all-new Land Rover LR2 has enjoyed strong sales, and to reinforce its lineup in the U.S., Land Rover North America introduced a new and enhanced derivative - the LR2 HSE. This new version has a sportier stance than the LR2 SE due to body color bumpers and side sills, a rear spoiler, titanium door handles and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. All of the technical highlights of the LR2 SE are carried over into to the HSE model. The engine is matched to a new 6-speed automatic transmission, with Land Rover's CommandShift offering manual sequential gear changes when required. There is also a driver- selectable sport mode for even more responsive performance.

2008 Range Rover Sport
Range Rover Sport
Fortunately, much of the Range Rover's style has carried over to the automaker's less expensive Range Rover Sport, as well as some of its offroad-ready hardware. To be clear, the Range Rover is unrelated to the Range Rover Sport, which shares its platform with the LR3. For 2008, the Range Rover Sport has power-folding side mirrors, an 8-way power passenger seat and a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel. It features an upright grille that's flanked by standard high-intensity-discharge headlights.

Other design features include a downward-sloping roofline, side vents in the front fenders and rocker panel moldings. HSE models use a 300-hp, 4.4-liter V-8 that makes 315 pounds-feet of torque, and Supercharged versions have a 390-hp, supercharged 4.2-liter V-8 that develops 410 pounds-feet of torque.
LR3
Land Rover's LR3 can hold up to seven, and for 2008 the only engine available is a Jaguar- derived 300-horsepower, 4.4-liter V-8 that's been changed to handle severe offroad conditions. Terrain Response technology has five terrain settings for on-road to extreme offroad conditions. Three-row seating is standard for all 2008 LR3s; leather seating surfaces for the first and second rows, 8-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats, and a sunroof are also standard. A 240-watt Harman Kardon 9-speaker sound system is standard, and HSE models get a 550-watt Harman Kardon 6-disc system with 14 speakers. Enlarged from a Jaguar engine, the 4.4-liter V-8 develops 300 hp and drives a 6-speed automatic transmission. Permanent 4-wheel drive is standard.
