2008 Chevrolet Malibu

Malibu
The all-new 2008 Chevrolet Malibu delivers great performance, fuel economy and refinement, wrapped in a clean, tailored design that carries the global face of Chevrolet. A broad range of detailed, well-appointed and efficient models is offered.

The new Malibu is based on GM's global midsize platform, which serves as the foundation for a strong body structure, precise build quality and refined driving dynamics. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard with the V-6 and will be available later in the model year with the 2.4L four-cylinder LTZ - a segment first. The six-speed transmissions also feature TAPshift, which enables the driver to shift manually with steering wheel-mounted controls.

2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Corvette ZR1
Yep, this is the super-Corvette you might've been reading about for, oh, the last three years. Once nicknamed the Blue Devil, the ZR1 is now official, in the flesh and bare for all to see. Weighing in at a scant 3,350 pounds, the ZR1 is based on the aluminum chassis of the Corvette Z06 we all know and love.

It adds things like a supercharged 6.2-liter engine capable of a 200 mph top speed, carbon ceramic rotors and standard magnetic ride control, plus carbon fiber roof, front fenders, rocker moldings and more. This is no toy. This is a super car… a super car that hits 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.

The 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 goes into limited production in June. It's a 600-plus-hp rocket that will carry a six-figure base price.

Camaro
Hot on the heels of last year's Camaro coupe concept, GM has introduced a Camaro convertible that will likely hit showrooms before the end of the decade. Sporting the hardtop's brash styling and beefy V-8 engine, the Camaro heralds Chevy's return to muscle-car mania and ‘60s braggadocio - something young drivers might lust for, had Ford not already quenched the yearning with its most recent Mustang.

Not to worry, Chevy: lead-footed males are not in short supply. The concept car's 6.0-liter LS2 V-8 should make for plenty of chest thumping ‘round the engine bay. It connects to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

A cylinder deactivation feature cuts fuel to four cylinders during low-demand situations, which will help the Camaro achieve its purported 30 mpg or better on the highway.
